Post-Theatrical
Company Skyfish is the creative group led by leader/director
Ichiro Kojima and playwright Satoshi Matsuyama.
Both majored in performing arts at the school of
Literature, Arts, and Cultural Studies at the Kinki
University, and have been active in theater since
2003 based in Osaka. "Post-Theatrical Company"
means that the group is no longer a theater company,
which is also a declaration of their commitment
to start their creative activities by exploration
of ways to work as a collective. Since "MESSAGE"
in 2006, the group has begun to create performing
arts pieces using a novel written by the company's
playwright Satoshi Matsuyama as a script, without
adapting it for the stage. Since then the group
has focused on the "theatricalization of the
novel".
The group has questioned the "system"
of so-called theater, and attempts to establish
a new set of rules on "working as a collective",
"creative process" and "how to communicate
information".
