GOJIGEN
"My father probably
did it."
from Tokyo
GOJIGEN,
a comedy troupe formed by the Keio University alumni
in 2006, has been portraying situation comedies
of the wimpy and awkward, written and directed by
Daigo Matsui. Mr. Makoto Ueda of EUROPE-KIKAKU describes
them as "comedies in which low-spirited people
go this way and that." With detailed and realistic
stage sets and schoolboy conversations, Matsui's
tragic inferiority complexes are transformed on
stage to unfurl a comical but sweet and loving world.
The day he overcomes his complexes will mark the
end of the troupe but that probably won't happen
as long as he remains a virgin.
Since recently MatsuiÅfs father has been putting
pressure on him to quit theater and study world
economy, this play will be a mystery comedy of people
trying to prevent the solution of a crime with a
heavy emphasis on family.
