THEATER COMPANY URINKO
"ANIMAL FARM"

In
1973, eight young actors founded the THEATER COMPANY
URINKO in order to achieve to become a professional.
URINKO means a baby wild boar in Japanese and they
have stripes on their back, which look like those
of the Oriental Melon (Uri). Also they are called
Urikko or Uribo. Wild boars have the characteristic
of rushing directly to its aim. The Theater was
named URINKO because of its hope to bring wonderful
shows directly to children just like a wild boar
charges forward. The Theater is versatile in its
style and has performed for small children, teenager
and adults in various venues, from small community
centers to large auditoriums. This versatility has
resulted in the Theater working with a variety of
directors and staff. In recent years, URINKO has
produced 2 to 4 new shows a year with artists such
as Toyoko Nishida, Norihiko Tsukuda, Seisuke Yamazaki,
Kuwae Tsuge, Naoki Kitamura, Satoru Jitsunashi,Tatsuo
Kaneshita, Asaya Fujita and Tadashi Kato. For the
Winter Summit 2008, URINKO brings "ANIMAL FARM,"
a collaboration with a young director of BUNGAKUZA
for an adult audience.
