NIKUTAI KANKEI
"48"
choreographed and directed by Tomohiko Kyogoku
from Kyoto
Nikutai
Kankei is a dance duo by Tomohiko Kyogoku and Yu
Tomimatsu, graduates of the film and performing
arts departments at Kyoto University of Art and
Design. After graduating from the university, Kyogoku
was based in Kyoto and danced in works by Setsuko
Yamada, Kitamari, GRAINDER-MAN and others. He has
choreographed, directed and performed solo pieces
and has appeared on stage as an actor. Upon graduation,
Tomimatsu joined “The Brilliant Future”
led by Kim Ito for one year. In addition, he participated
as a dancer and choreographer in works by Shimizu
Araki and Noriko Yamaguchi (Contemporary Artist).
This is the first collaboration between the two.
The name of the duo reflects their desire to build
the most attractive and energetic relationship between
two bodies, making the most of being a male/female
dance duo. The name Nikutai Kankei means physical
relationship. The duo plans to present a work in
progress version of “48” in June in
Kyoto.
