| Takahiro Fujita writes and directs all the pieces
for Mum and Gypsy. Founded in 2007, this group recruits cast
and staff members for each production. Pursuing the relationship
between the space and the piece, they have been performing
in art galleries and cafes, as well as in theaters. "Coughing
storybook" (October 2008) was performed in cafes in Tokyo,
Kanagawa and Kyoto. "Before dawn, the morning came"
(June 2009) was an experimental piece performed in an art
gallery with the audience moving between two rooms. Switching
the scenes back and forth to simultaneously depict the lives
of the characters is their recent style. Also, they observe
the actors real-life characters personalities and incorporate
them into the fictional characters to create authentic relations
hips and drama. |
