Away from his native Aomori, 31-year-old Momoji
Yamada, an actor working in The Tokyo metropolitan area and
other regions including Sendai, started NONOUE in 2009 to
perform the pieces he writes and directs with the radical
and powerful Aomori actresses: Natsuko Norita (43 years old),
Kazuki Fujimoto (34) and Marika Narumi (30). The name of the
group means “we sinful people standing on the vast waste
land that is society”.
Using the exclusivity, maternity, dynamism and the feeling
of being on the edge of women who are no longer in their 20s,
they depict, with frantic intensity, things that “seem
unlikely to happen in daily life but actually do”.
They present regional stories using local dialects, but only
as a starting point and are not limited by them. NONOUE believes
in the power of humans. |
