Four amateur male dancers with various backgrounds
and a desire to dance before an audience met Maki Tabata,
a dancer and amateur choreographer. Frantically pursuing the
minute (this is their creed), they created a piece to be the
start of Co. TABA-MAKI. The members other than Tabata change
depending on the pieces.
"The Dramatic...", the revision of their first piece,
won both the Yokohama Prize for a Brilliant Future and MASDANZA
Prize at Yokohama Dance Collection R 2009, and was presented
at MAZDANZA (the International Contemporary Dance Festival
of the Canary Islands) and other venues in Spain and Netherlands
in October 2009. It has also been invited to Esplanade, Singapore,
in July 2010. Overcoming and sometime avoiding the challenges
they face, they boldly go where no dancer has gone before. |
