Tomohiko Kyogoku founded a solo dance unit to perform the solo piece “Blunt Thrust” for his senior thesis at Kyoto University of Arts and Design in 2006. He started to create and perform dance pieces by just moving his body as a way to prevent himself from thinking too much about dance. Based in Kyoto, he has presented his work at theaters, dance clubs, concert halls and outdoors. In this summit, he performs “KAIROU”, a revised version of “Corridor [Kairou in Japanese]” that received favorable reviews, in which he pursues the possibilities of how dance can be appealing with no music, no stage set and no lighting change.
