Founded in 1999 by five high-school classmates, Pepin Structural Designs has grown with members mostly from Keio University and presented their work at venues in Yokohama such as ST Spot and BankART. In 2006, the group moved into “Kitanaka White”, a local office building reutilized as a creation center, and built their atelier “Pepin Port”. “The Taste of Honey” was performed and rehearsed at their atelier in 2006 while they renovated the atelier. The group has consistently produced their work in Yokohama, which has been their base. The group has performed 16 pieces up to 2009. Since its inception, all of the group’s members have been involved in the planning of the projects and Natsuki Ishigami has written and directed them. Their policy for creation is that each member brings in a topic that they become aware of in daily life to incorporate it into their work.
